we collect minimal data, never sell your information, and do not process any payments or collect any financial information. your check-in selfies are shared directly with your buddy via your messaging app - we never see or store them.
what we collect.
We keep data collection to an absolute minimum:
- Your name - So your buddy knows who they're partnered with
- Device identifier - A unique code to link you to your pacts (not your device's serial number)
- Pact details - Your commitment goals, stake amounts (display only), and session targets
- Check-in records - Timestamps when your buddy confirms your check-ins
- Timezone - To accurately track your weekly progress
what we absolutely do not collect.
This is critical to understand:
- No payment information - We do not collect credit card numbers, bank accounts, Venmo/PayPal credentials, or any financial data whatsoever
- No photos or images - Check-in selfies are shared directly to your buddy via iMessage, SMS, or WhatsApp. We never see, store, or process them.
- No location data - We do not track your GPS location. Ever.
- No contacts - We do not access or store your contact list
- No health data - We do not connect to Apple Health, Google Fit, or any health tracking services
- No biometric data - We do not collect fingerprints, face scans, or other biometric information
no financial transactions.
We want to be absolutely clear: AccountabiliBuddy does not process, facilitate, or have any involvement with money or payments. The "stake" amounts shown in the app are user-defined display values only. Any actual money exchanged between users happens entirely outside our platform through third-party services (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, etc.) that users choose independently.
how we use your information.
Your data is used solely to provide the App's core functionality:
- Match you with your pact buddy using shared codes
- Track your commitment progress and streaks
- Display penalty calculations (which you may or may not settle privately)
- Improve the App's performance and user experience
data sharing.
We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited data only in these cases:
- With your pact buddy - Your name and workout status are visible to your pact partner
- Service providers - We use secure cloud hosting (database and servers) to store your data
- Legal requirements - If required by law, court order, or government request
- Safety - To protect against fraud, abuse, or harm to users or the public
data storage & security.
Your data is stored on encrypted servers with industry-standard security measures including:
- SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmission
- Encrypted database storage
- Regular security audits and updates
- Limited employee access to user data
data retention.
We retain your data only as long as necessary:
- Active accounts - Data is kept while your account is active
- Deleted accounts - Data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
- Inactive pacts - Orphan pacts (without a buddy) are automatically deleted after 7 days
children's privacy.
AccountabiliBuddy is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we discover that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will promptly delete it.
your rights.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access - Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction - Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion - Request deletion of your account and data
- Portability - Request your data in a portable format
- Opt-out - End your pact and stop using the App at any time

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. We do not sell your personal information. Contact us to exercise these rights.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
